Pacific Drops 73-64 Decision At UC Davis

Pacific dropped a 73-64 decision at UC Davis on Tuesday, Feb. 14 in the Pavilion. The Tigers dropped to 10-15 on the season, 6-7 in Big West Conference play. UC Davis improved to 3-22, 2-11 in league play.

Sophomore Khalil Kelley scored six early points as Pacific took a 10-6 lead with 15:21 to play in the half. The lead grew to 14-9 before the Aggies scored eight straight to switch it to a 17-14 UCD lead thanks to a pair of three-pointers. Junior Travis Fulton scored three points in a 7-0 run as the Tigers took lead back (21-17) with 7:09 to play in the half. The Aggies' Eddie Miller then scored five points in a 10-2 run to give UCD a 27-23 lead with 3:42 to play in the half. Junior Lorenzo McCloud hit the team's first three-pointer of the half with 2:41 remaining, pairing with two free throws from Markus Duran to give the Tigers a 28-27 lead. UCD outscored Pacific 4-2 the rest of the way to hold a 31-30 halftime lead.

After falling behind by seven in the early moments of the second half, Kelley scored four points in a 10-2 run to give the Tigers a 42-41 lead with 12:36 to play in the game. The Aggies countered with a 10-0 run in which Pacific was 0-4 from the field with a turnover as UCD reclaimed a 51-42 lead with 9:16 to play. UC Davis pushed the lead to as much as 13 (64-51), before a run in the final moments cut the lead to 71-64 with 11 seconds left.

McCloud led the Tigers with 14 points, while Fulton and Kelley each scored 12 points. Pacific was just 3-17 from three-point range, 17.6 percent. The Aggies outscored the Tigers 20-10 in points off of turnovers.

The Tigers are next in action with a home game against Idaho State on Saturday, Feb. 18 as part of the SEARS BracketBusters weekend. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m start in the Alex G. Spanos Center.
