Seven Tigers Named To MPSF All-Academic Team
The Pacific men's water polo team saw seven of its student-athletes selected to the 2011 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Team as announced by the conference office Friday, Jan. 13.
Joey Doyle, Daniel Lungu, Tyler Reardon, and Jasper Visser were the four seniors that made the squad. This was Lungu's first opportunity to make the team as a transfer from Long Beach City College. Goran Tomasevicwas the sole junior while Balazs Erdelyi and Alex Malkis were eligible for the first time as sophomores.
"These seven guys represent exactly what Pacific water polo is all about," head coach James Graham said. "Here at Pacific, we believe student is listed before athlete for a reason, and I could not be more proud of their accomplishments in the classroom."
It was Reardon's third appearance on the team in as many years. Doyle and Tomasevic earned their second respective honors after being selected last season.
To qualify for all-academic recognition, student-athletes must be a sophomore academically, must have completed one academic year at their respective institution prior to their season, must have competed in 50 percent of their team's matches, and have a 3.00 or better cumulative GPA.
