Softball Games Delayed Due to Weather
Due to weather forecasts that predict high winds and rainy conditions on Saturday afternoon, Pacific's Big West title defense will have to wait as the Tigers' contests versus Cal State Northridge have been moved to Sunday, April 1 and Monday, April 2. The change in days was due to the weather forecasts and travel costs for the Matadors. The Tigers join their Northern California rival, UC Davis, in the move as the Aggies shifted their contests with UC Riverside to Sunday/Monday as well due to travel costs.
Despite the shift in days, the Tigers are eager to get on the field as they defend their 2011 Big West crown. Pacific enters conference play as the Big West's top team at 20-11 on the year and was predicted to defend its title according to the preseason coaches vote in January. Last season, the Tigers stormed through the Big West winning 16 of 21 contests en route to their first ever conference title. Against the Matadors, Pacific took two of three on the road in Northridge, CA as the Tigers bookend the season series with a pair of victories. Now taking on the Matadors at home, Pacific will look to keep its solid home record intact from a season ago when the Tigers won eight straight at Bill Simoni Field after dropping their conference home opener to Long Beach State.
