Koerner, Klein Join Water Polo Staff

Aug 29, 2012

Zac Koerner and Kendra Klein will join the Pacific Water Polo coaching staff for the upcoming season, head coach James Graham announced Wednesday.

Koerner will join the team in a full-time capacity after serving as a graduate assistant last season. Before coming to Pacific, Koerner spent five seasons at Rio Americano High School in Sacramento, where he served as the head coach of the boy's water polo team. Under his guidance, the program notched over 100 victories while claiming five straight league titles, including the 2010 CIF Division II Championship.

Koerner also presently works as an assistant coach of the U.S. Junior National Team as well as serving as an Olympic Development Program coach. This past summer, he helped coach the squad to a runner-up finish at the UANA Junior Pan American Championships in Montreal, Canada.

Koerner graduated from UC Irvine in 2000 after two seasons in the pool for the Anteaters.

Klein is also no stranger to Pacific, having been the graduate assistant for the women's water polo team during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. She helped lead the Tigers to their first-ever conference title and 20-win season in 2010. This past year, Klein served as the head coach of the San Joaquin Delta College women's water polo program. As a student-athlete, she earned All-America honors at both Santa Rosa Junior College and Cal State Northridge.

Klein received her bachelor's degree in political science from CSUN in 2005 before earning her master's degree in sports sciences from Pacific in 2012.
