Jun 25, 2012

Sophomore Elise Martin was named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-America Team as announced by the organization on Monday, June 25.

After a stellar sophomore campaign in which Martin led the Tigers in nearly every statistical category, the Calgary, Alberta, native earned honorale mention honors for the first time in her career. Martin's selection gives Pacific its third All-America honoree in as many seasons.

The true definition of a utility player, Martin scored a team-best 48 goals on the year, averaging 1.66 goals per game. She finished the season with 15 multi-goal outings, including three hat tricks. She set her season high of five goals in the Tigers' win over Santa Clara on Jan. 22 before notching four goals versus Fresno Pacific on Feb. 18.

Along with her scoring prowess, Martin led Pacific in steals with 47 and field blocks with 15. She also tallied 31 assists and drew 30 ejections, both of which were good for second most on the squad, respectively.

Martin picked up Big West Player of the Week honors for the week of Mar. 19. She recorded three goals, three assists, three steals and three drawn ejections in Pacific's near upset of rival UC Davis, and added a pair of scores in the Tigers' close loss to Maryland. Martin was named to the Big West All-Conference Team at the end of the season.

Martin was one of 10 Big West players to earn All-America honors. For the full list of selections, click here.
