Men's Water Polo Represented On U.S. Junior National Team
Incoming freshman Jacob Himmel can add U.S. Men's Junior National Team member to his list of impressive accolades after it was announced he made the squad this past week.
The Chicago, Ill., native will represent his country at the upcoming XVII UANA Pan American Junior Championships in Montreal, Canada, from August 10-18. The under-19 team will be competing for a spot in the Junior World Championships, held in Perth, Australia, this December.
Himmel comes to Pacific after a stellar four-year career at the Latin School of Chicago, where he was a four-year letter winner for the Rams. A 6-2 center, he collected all-state honors in each of his four seasons and earned All-America honors as a junior. Prior to his selection to the U.S. team, Himmel had been a part of the program's training squad.
While Himmel will represent the Tigers in the pool, Pacific assistant Zac Koerner will be on the deck, serving as an assistant coach for the U.S. squad. Koerner joined the Tigers last season, helping them to their best finish at the MPSF Tournament since 2006.The championship's official website can be found here.
