New Policy Regarding Minor Children on Campus
Editor's Note: In her fall address to faculty, President Pamela A. Eibeck announced this policy was suspended until further review.
The University has developed and University leadership has approved a policy regarding children on campus. All employees are urged to familiarize themselves with this policy.
Minor children visit Pacific's campuses many times each through a number of activities and outreach programs. They participate in health fairs and clinic services, enroll in educational, athletic and recreational programs, attend cultural programs and performances, and visit on field trips from their schools. These visits of minor children to our campus come with significant ethical, moral and legal responsibilities. All employees of Pacific need to be mindful of our obligation to protect these minor children visitors to our campus and act in proactive ways to make their visit safe. The policy applies to all children who come to the Pacific campuses, including children of University employees and registered students.
Elizabeth Griego, vice president for Student Life; Lynn King, special assistant to the President; and Jane Lewis, assistant vice president of Human Resources, led the committee that developed the policy with valuable input received from multiple groups throughout the University, including the Staff Advisory Council, the Academic Council, the Council of Deans, the Athletics Advisory Committee and advisory committees from the San Francisco and Sacramento campuses. President Eibeck and the committee extend their thanks to all the individuals and groups who provided feedback and assisted in the development of this policy.
The Children on Campus Policy is posted on the Human Resources website.
