Pacific Announces 2012-13 Men's Basketball Schedule

Jun 26, 2012

The Pacific Men's Basketball schedule in 2012-13 will feature 16 home games, including contests against former Big West foe Nevada and future West Coast Conference members San Francisco and Santa Clara. The schedule is tentative and is subject to change due to potential television matchups. The Tigers will begin the 2012-13 season with a 10 day trip to France in August, playing three games.

One major change in the Pacific home schedule this year will be that all single game Saturday home contests will be played at 5:00 p.m. The Tigers' Saturday game against UC Davis on Feb. 2 is a doubleheader with the Pacific women's team and the game time has yet to be determined.

Pacific's home opener is an exhibition game against Chico State on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 5:00 p.m. The Tigers open the regular season on Nov. 10 with a home game against Holy Names College. The Tigers will be a part of the Anaheim Classic hosted by ESPNU and the Big West Conference at the Anaheim Convention Center over Thanksgiving weekend. The other teams at the event will be California, Drake, Drexel, Georgia Tech, Saint Mary's, Rice and Xavier.

The Tigers road schedule will include games at long-time rival Fresno State (Nov. 16), along with games at 2012 NCAA Tournament participants Gonzaga (Dec. 1) and Saint Mary's (Dec. 19) in previews of 2013-14 West Coast Conference games. Opening the Big West Conference schedule on the road, Pacific takes on defending champion Long Beach State on Dec. 29. For the eighth straight year, Pacific will take part in ESPN BracketBusters on February 23rd in a road game.

"With our August trip to France, we'll be able to try out some different rotations and see how different combinations work together," said Thomason. "This year's schedule is challenging and will push us in the preseason with some tough road games. This will better prepare us for a run at the Big West Championship and the opportunity to get back to the NCAA Tournament."

Prior to the official practice season, the Tigers will host the annual Tigers In Tennies event for area youngsters on October 10 at 5:30 p.m., followed by the traditional Midnight Mania event to tipoff the practice season on October 12 at 10:00 p.m. Both events will be held in the Alex G. Spanos Center.
