Pacific Falls Short In Late Comeback Bid At No. 8 Pepperdine

Aug 26, 2012

The Pacific women's soccer team dropped a tight 3-2 decision at No. 8 Pepperdine on Sunday, August 26. The Tigers fell to 0-3 on the season, while the Waves improved to 3-0.

"Pepperdine is No. 8 and has been highly rated for two years," said Pacific head coach Keith Coleman. "We played our best game of the preseason and looked like the better team for several long stretches. We scored two goals and had several quality chances."

Another goal by LeCave, this one on a deflected shot by a Tiger defender, made it 3-1 Waves at the 68:20 mark of the second half.  Pacific rallied late, getting a goal from junior Maricella Padilla off of a great over the top pass from Brittni Beeman at 86:24. The Tigers had a few opportunities in the offensive zone in the final minutes, but were unable to even it up.

Pacific was outshot 17-16 by the Waves, but held a 6-5 advantage in corners.

The Tigers are next in action on Thursday, Aug. 30 at San Jose State. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Spartan Stadium.
