Alex Edfort and Bryan Meth at U.S. Amateur Public Links Championships
Pacific Golfers Tee Off at U.S. Amateur Public Links Championships
Midway, Utah - Teeing off at the 2012 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championships, the duo of Alex Edfort and Byron Meth will take on a field of the best amateurs in the United States as they vie for a spot in the head-to-head championship rounds. The two will compete in two rounds of stroke play over the next two days as players look to qualify for the head-to-head rounds. After stroke play the top 64 players will make it to match play. The "Match Play Tree" is then established and players are seeded according to how they played during stroke play.
Last year, Edfort reached the round of 16 in match play before bowing out of the tournament. Edfort was the No. 3 seed heading into head-to-head play after finishing the two round stroke play qualifying five strokes back of the first place. Out of 155 players to begin the tournament in stroke play, Edfort finished tied for third after posting a +2, including firing one of just 19 rounds under par when he shot an impressive 68 in round two to shoot up the leaderboard.
