Pacific Tigers Summer Ball Wrap-Up
Eleven members of the Pacific baseball team wrapped up a successful summer ball season in early August.
Junior C/INF Riley Drongesen helped the Humbolt Crabs to a 37-9 season and the Far West League championship. He hit .341 in 28 games, going 30-for-88 with three doubles and 12 runs batted in. In addition to a .473 on-base percentage, Drongesen posted four steals in four attempts.
Four Tigers helped the East Texas Pump Jacks to the Texas Collegiate League championship. Sophomore OF Tyler Sullivan hit .308 in 43 games with five doubles and 15 RBI. He scored 22 runs to go with a .409 on-base percentage. Fellow sophomore OF Taylor Murphy posted a .291 batting average in in 53 games. He tallied nine doubles and a triple with 14 runs batted in. Murphy reached base at a .410 clip and scored 25 runs.
Sophomore RHP Mike Hager put up a 4-1 record in seven games with a 4.05 ERA. In 40 innings pitched, he struck out 32 batters against just eight walks. Sophomore RHP Bryce Lombardi posted a 1-1 record with a 3.38 ERA in 16 innings pitched. He appearing in 12 games for East Texas after tossing 4.2 innings in five games with the Kitsap Blue Jackets to start the summer.
Senior INF Tyger Pederson hit .297 in 45 games with the Menlo Park Legends in the Far West Baseball League. With a .432 on-base percentage, Pederson scored a whopping 42 runs in his 45 games. He totaled eight doubles and a triple while driving in 19 more runs.
Junior INF Curtis Gomez hit .317 in 35 games with the Redding Colt 45s. He clubbed nine doubles and a home run while diving in 18 runs. He also scored 22 runs and swiped nine bases in 10 attempts. Sophomore INF Robby Mansfield was Gomez's teammate with the Colt 45s, posting 19 hits (a .238 average ) with five doubles and 13 runs batted in.
Redshirt sophomore 1B Erik Lockwood turned in a .352 batting average for the DeKalb County Liners. He tallied two home runs with five doubles and 24 runs batted in. In 25 games, Lockwood reached base at a .440 clip.
Junior LHP Paul Moeller helped the Marysville Gold Sox to a 36-11 record, as he went 3-1 with a 2.84 ERA in 13 games. In 31.2 innings pitched, Moeller struck out 37 while walking just 16.
Michael Benson pitched in five games for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots, with a 4.43 ERA. He struck out four batters in 6.1 innings.
