The Pacific women's basketball team opened play on its' France Summer Tour with a 72-59 win over BC Franconville Friday. Ashley Wakefield scored 17 points with seven rebounds while Kendall Kenyon chipped in 10 points and seven boards.

"It definitely looked like August," coach Lynne Roberts said. "It looked like our first game in a while. Thankfully, we have time to get to where we need to be before the season opens in November."

"I thought Sam Pettinger did a great job. A few steals, a few assists, she does those "little things" that add up to big things. Shanice Butler had a good debut, with a couple of nice finishes inside, and a couple hustle plays like drawing a charge."

Pettinger finished with four points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals, while Butler hit two-of-three from the field with three rebounds and a steal.

The Tigers opened to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter as Erica McKenzie knocked down a pair of three pointers and Brianna Johnson added a three-point play.

BC Franconville answered with an 11-0 run of their own before Claire Conricode nailed a three to halt the run. After a stop on defense, Kendall Kenyon scored inside and Brianna Johnson finished a fast-break off the turnover for a 20-13 advantage. Franconville added a pair of free throws before the horn, as Pacific led 20-15 after one quarter.

In the second, Pacific continued to dictate pace, as Brianna Johnson scored against in transition and Kenyon added a pair of finishes inside. The Tigers stretched the lead to 13 again in the second quarter, but BC Franconville narrowed the gap, as Pacific led at intermission, 38-30.

The Tigers led by double-digits through the third quarter as a Wakefield three-pointer put Pacific up 15, 48-33. But the Tigers couldn't pull away beyond that. BC Franconville reeled off five straight points before a Conricode three-pointer.

After three quarters, the Tigers left 54-43 but in the fourth the home squad cut the margin to eight. Shanice Butler converted a pair of and-ones, finishing inside while being fouled, and also drew a charge to curtain the BC Franconville momentum. Wakefield added a lay-in while being fouled and the Tigers ran out the clock on the 72-59 victory.
