Rogers Earns MPSF Athlete Of The Week Honors
Pacific Swimming's sophomore Cooper Rogers collected the first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Athlete of the Week award of his career Wednesday, Oct. 24, as voted on the by league's coaches.
The Western Australia native had an impressive outing at last week's Pacific Invitational, taking second in the 200 Free (1:42.70) and third in the 100 Back (51.80) as the Tigers claimed their-first ever title in the event's 21-year history. His 200 Free time ranks third in the MPSF while his mark in the 100 Back is fifth in the league.
Rodgers also helped Pacific to a pair of second-place finishes in both the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay before helping the Tigers post their top times in the 200 Free Relay and the 800 Free Relay on the second day of the meet. He also recorded times of 22.14 in the 50 Free and 47.60 in the 100 Free.
This marks the second consecutive week in which a Pacific swimmer has received the conference's Athlete of the Week award. Junior Oliver Simkovic claimed the honor for the Tigers last week.The Tigers will resume competition this Saturday, Oct. 27, when they take on CSU Bakersfield and Seattle in Bakersfield, Calif. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
