Tigers Drop Home Big West Contest To UC Irvine
The Pacific women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to UC Irvine on Friday, October 12. The Tigers fell to 3-9-1 on the year and 0-3-1 in league play, while the Anteaters improved to 8-8-0 and 4-1-0 in Big West action.
"We really controlled a majority of this game, but we were unable to convert on a few up close chances," said Tiger head coach Keith Coleman. "I was proud our team's effort, but we have to quickly get ready for a tough Long Beach State team on Sunday."
Pacific maintained possession on the UC Irvine end for most of the first half, but the Anteaters were able to convert one of their three shots to hold a 1-0 halftime lead. The goal came at the 22:38 mark on a well-placed corner kick by Madison Solow that was headed into the left side of the goal by Haley O'Brien.

Sophomore Mirella Mattos sent a corner kick in that was headed to Cabrera by freshman Regina Manneh. The Anteaters scored the game-winner when they were awarded a penalty kick that was converted by Rachel Wood at 62:02.
The match was lopsided in fouls as Pacific had 10 more than UCI (21-11). The Anteaters held a 12-11 edge in shots and the Tigers had four corners in the second half to hold a 5-2 advantage.
The Tigers are next with a home match against Long Beach State on Sunday, October 14 at 12:00 p.m.
