Tapingo Food Ordering App Brings Convenience to Stockton Campus

by Patrick GiblinSep 24, 2012

Imagine being in an afternoon class and craving some of those delicious garlic fries served in The Lair on the second floor. But there is a dilemma - the class doesn't let out  until nearly 3 p.m. and the next class starts at 4 p.m. and there is no way in heck anyone will be able to stand in the long mid-afternoon rush line in The Lair, order the fries, eat them and still get to the next class on time.

Technology has come to the rescue.

Starting Oct. 1, students, faculty and staff will be able to order food in the Lair using their Apple or Android phone. Simply download the free Tapingo application, which is available in both the iTunes store or Google Play Market, and link the app to either your student meal plan or to your PacificCashTM account that is linked to your student/employee identification.

Once installed and set up, students, faculty and staff can order, pay and pick up food from the Lair, right through the Tapingo app.

No lines, no hassle, and enough time saved to get rid of garlic breathe before that public speaking course or that meeting with the President.

"We see this as a great convenience for our students and employees, especially those who have packed schedules during the week," said Steve Jacobson, associate vice president for Student Life. "We believe this will help many avoid the hassles of lines and get more of our students to class on time."

There are some ground rules, Jacobson said. If the food is ordered but not picked up, the account will still be charged. To get the food, students and employees have to show the electronic receipt that they will receive from Tapingo. Also, only the basic menu of the Lair will be available. "There will be no special orders," Jacobson said. "We will watch this program carefully and make adjustments as needed, but we think the Pacificans are going to love it."

Starting Oct. 1 stop by the Tapingo table located downstairs in the Marketplace to speak with Tapingo representatives. They would be more than happy to answer additional questions and show you how the application works. For immediate information on Tapingo, visit http://www.tapingo.com/
