Award-winning Poet Performs Reading Feb. 28

Nathaniel Mackey, an award-winning poet and Duke University professor, will present a poetry reading this Thursday. Mackey's work combines African mythology, African-American musical traditions and Modernism. As an academic, he explores the connection between historical memory and poetry, as well as the ritual influence of poetry and song. In addition to the reading, Mackey will present classroom lectures in English 161 and English 113. Pacific Arts & Lectures, the College of the Pacific Dean's Office, Dept. of Ethnic Studies, English Dept., and Ethnic Studies Club, as well as other Pacific organizations are sponsoring the event.
