Shillington Named MPSF Swimmer Of The Week

Jan 9, 2013

Junior Hayley Shillington has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Swimmer of the Week after posting impressive marks in Pacific's dual meet against nationally ranked Stanford last weekend.

This is the first such honor for Shillington this season and the second of her career. She earned the weekly honor as a freshman during the 2010-11 season.

The Thousand Oaks native swam in four races against the No. 7 Cardinal last Saturday, Jan. 5. She recorded times of 1:52.82 in the 200 Free, 52.79 in the 50 Free and 5:12.18 in the 500 Free. Shillington also swam in the 400 Free Relay, going 53.27 in her leg of the race. The 100 Free and 200 Free races were the most impressive as she topped a Stanford swimmer in each event.

She ranks in the top 10 in the MPSF in both the 200 Free and the 500 Free. She swam season-best times of 1:50.24 in the 200 Free and 4:58.74 in the 500 Free at the UNLV Invite on Dec. 15.

Pacific's women's squad is back in action this Saturday, Jan. 12, when it takes on rival UC Davis in a dual meet at the Aggies' Schaal Aquatics Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
