First Day At The Oregon Duck Invitational Complete For The Tigers
Playing in the Pacific Northwest, the Pacific golf team finished the first day of action at the Oregon Duck Invitational in 10th place overall after 36-holes on Monday, March 25. The Tigers ended their first two-rounds of action +15 on the day after shooting a two-round total of 591. Pacific and the rest of the field will attempt to chase down the host and reigning champion Ducks of Oregon on the final day of play after the Ducks finished the first day at -9, seven strokes ahead of the field.
Individually, the Tigers played an up-and-down first two rounds as Pacific alternated birdies and bogeys throughout the day. Leading the way for the Tigers was senior Alex Edfort as the fourth-year standout shook off a rough few weeks to finish his day at even-par. Edfort shot a pair of par-72s on Monday to put himself into a tie for 15th place overall. Edfort and the field trails Oregon's Jonathan Woo who finished eight-under par to take a one-stroke lead into the final round of action.
In addition to Edfort, Pacific's youngest golfer ended his first day of play at even-par as freshman SeungJae Maeng rebounded from a first round 75 to tallying a 69 in round two. Maeng's -3, 69 in the second round was the Tigers' top score of Monday's action and Pacific's only round under par during the first two rounds of action. Additionally, Maeng's 69 was the freshman's first round under 70 on the year.
Pacific will tee off with the rest of the field at 8:30 am on Tuesday, Mar. 26 at the Eugene Country Club as the final round of action at the Invitational commences. To follow the Tigers throughout the final day of play go to www.GolfStatResults.com.
