Pacific Softball: Summer Championships Await As Moore Named To Great Britain Euro Championship Squad
Picking up where she left off last summer, senior Amy Moore was once again named to the traveling squad of Team Great Britain for the 2013 summer festivities. Moore and her national team mates will play in the European Championships at the start of the summer in an attempt to earn a spot in the World Championships once again. Moore was one of 17 players to be selected to represent Great Britain at the championships in London as the tournament will be played from June 28 - July 13.
Last summer, Moore played her first games as a member of the British national team at the Canada Cup in Surrey, British Columbia. At the tournament, Team GB came away with the bronze medal while Moore proved to be one of the top hitters for her national team as she finished fourth on the team in batting with a .300 average while hitting second.
The Great Britain Women's Team has finished second and third in the last two European Championships in 2009 and 2011 and qualified to play in World Championships in 2010 and 2012, where the team finished 11th on both occasions. This summer, Team GB has been seeded first in Pool C, which also includes Russia, Germany, Israel and Denmark. In the field there are 22 teams from throughout Europe competing for the title.
