Conservatory Professor Premieres Composition in New York

May 15, 2013

Dr. Francois Rose, Professor of Music Theory and Composition at Pacific's Conservatory of Music, enjoyed the world premiere of his work "Rosée du matin, flocons du soir, for violin and cimbalom" at the Miller Theatre in New York on February 12, 2013.  This amazing piece fully explores the sonic and harmonic possibilities of the cimbalom and was performed by members of the progressive New York City based contemporary music ensemble Either/Or.

"The percussionist David Shively and the violinist Jennifer Choi are two amazing, well-accomplished musicians," Rose comments, "it is a privilege to get a work premiered in New York by such fantastic musicians."

A video of the performance is available on our website beneath Dr. Rose's faculty profile.

Thanks go out to Dr. Rose and Either/Or for premiering yet another great composition for which the Conservatory of Music can be proud.
