Emergency Speaker Notification System to be Tested Friday
An outdoor speaker system intended to broadcast instructions in the event of an emergency on University of the Pacific, Stockton campus is scheduled to be tested 1:30 to 4 p.m. Friday, May 31.
Students, faculty and staff on campus at the time of the test may hear a message similar to the regular test of the Emergency Broadcast System. This test message may say something such as: "Attention. This is a test of University of the Pacific's Emergency Speaker Notification System. This is only a test."
The broadcast may be repeated several times in the afternoon in order to help determine the effectiveness and placement of the outdoor speakers. This system is intended to work in conjunction with other communications systems such as PacificCONNECT to provide vital information in the event of an emergency.
The date and time was selected for the test to lessen the disruption since many summer session classes do not meet on Friday afternoons.
