Final Big West Road Series Awaits Pacific Baseball At UCSB

May 15, 2013

The Pacific baseball team hits the road for a three-game Big West series at UC Santa Barbara opening 3 p.m. Friday.

The Tigers and Gauchos will play three afternoon games at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium, as game two gets underway on Saturday at 1 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.

Pacific (13-34 overall, 5-16 Big West) will juggle the starting rotation, with John Haberman getting bumped to Saturday. Haberman tossed eight shutout innings on Friday against UC Davis, taking a no decision while striking out seven and allowing just six hits.

RHP Jake Jenkins goes for back-to-back wins as he takes the hill on Friday.  The freshman threw 6.1 innings with three earned runs allowed on eight hits against UD Davis last Saturday, to earn his first career win. Jenkins has a 3.90 ERA in his last four outings, with 15 strikeouts against just four walks in 25.1 innings of work.

Haberman takes the mound in game two Saturday, looking to stretch his run of quality starts. The lefty has a 3.09 ERA in his last three starts, with 15 punchouts against five walks in his last 20.1 innings.

On Sunday, RHP Mike Hager gets the ball for Pacific. Hager tossed six innings Tuesday against Sacramento State, allowing just two earned runs while taking the hard-luck loss.

The Gauchos have yet to announce their weekend rotation as UCSB played two mid-week games, Monday against Washington State and Wednesday at Loyola Marymount. Following Wednesday's 11-3 win over LMU, UC Santa Barbara enters the weekend at 29-21 overall and 12-9 in Big West play.
