Obert Selected To U.S. Squad In Advance Of FINA Water Polo World League Super Final

Pacific Men's Water Polo's Alex Obert has been selected for the USA Senior National Team for the upcoming FINA Water Polo World League Super Final, held from June 11-16 in Chelyabinsk, Russia.

Obert got his first taste of national team play last week at the FINA Water Polo World League Preliminaries, impressing the U.S. coaching staff over the four-day tournament. He scored two goals in the team's first game versus Canada on May 25 before adding another score in the second encounter with Canada on May 27. Overall, the U.S. finished the week with a 3-1 record, taking first place in the tournament.

The U.S. team will be joined by seven other national teams for the FINA Water Polo World League Super Final. Brazil will join the U.S. from the Americas region while China and Japan will represent the Asia region. Montenegro, Serbia, Hungary and Russia round out the field and will represent the Europe region.

Obert and the rest of the team will train at the U.S. Water Polo National Training Center in Los Alamitos before taking off for Russia.
