Pacific Women's Soccer Falls At Kansas
The Pacific women's soccer dropped a 3-0 decision at Kansas on Sunday, Aug. 25 at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. Pacific fell to 0-2 on the season, while Kansas improved to 1-1.
"It was a tough loss today," said Head Coach Keith Coleman. "Statistically and from general run of play we were happy. Today we outshot and out-possessed a very good team. The trip has given us perspective on exactly where we are and what we need to work on this week."
Jamie Fletcher scored for the Jayhawks at the 11:40 mark to give KU a 1-0 lead. The same score was on the board at halftime, as the teams played even from that point. Pacific held an 8-7 edge in first half shots and 4-1 in corners.
The Jayhawks took a 2-0 lead at 56:05 in the second half, on a goal by Caro Van Slambrouck. They added a goal by Caroline Kastor in the final minute to seal the win.
For the match, the Tigers held a 15-13 advantage in shots and 4-2 in corners. Sophomore Zarette Munoz-Aguilar led Pacific with five shots, while freshman Alex Hussar added three shots.
The Tigers are next in action with a home game against Drake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 30 at Knoles Soccer Field. It is part of a women's soccer doubleheader as UC Davis faces Iowa at 4:30 p.m.
