Social Media Campaign Posts Great ResultsSummer may have been winding down, but Pacific’s social media was heating up with a spirited competition.
To count down the final 10 days before classes began on Pacific's Stockton campus, the Office of Communications launched a "Pacific Top Ten" social media campaign, aimed at engaging our followers on Facebook and Twitter.
The campaign was a success, with students, faculty, staff and alumni contributing their suggestions in categories that ranged from "Favorite Pacific Food" to "Favorite Pacific Tradition" and "Favorite Pacific Memory."
"Social Media for Colleges," a Portland, Ore.-based blog dealing with social media and higher education, featured the campaign as an example of excellence in crowd-sourcing and social media engagement, ranking it 23rd on their list of 50 Great Social Media Ideas in Higher Ed.
Here are the results of Pacific's Top Ten in case you missed them on our Facebook page:
Favorite Way to Stay Green: No clear winner, but the recycling bins all over campus were pretty popular.
Favorite Pacific Food: Breakfast Burritos (also popular: the much-missed Summit Rice Bowls)
Favorite Off-Campus Eatery: Chuck's Hamburgers (also popular: Siamese Street, Xochimilicos, and Chipotle)
Favorite Campus Spot: The winning answer, courtesy of student Millie Smith, "My favorites place on campus has got to be walking between Bannister and Owen, especially when music students are using the practice rooms. The melodies that come from those windows are so beautiful and they bring such beauty to that little walkway!" (also popular: the columns)
Favorite Class: By far our most popular category, please read the comments and memories from alumni and for shout-outs for our great courses and outstanding faculty from current students.
Favorite Study Spot: Empresso Coffeehouse on the Miracle Mile
Favorite Tradition: Hearing the leaf-blowers at 7 am (also popular - football, Pep Band, painting the rocks)
Favorite Event: No clear winner, but a great time was had by all at Tiger ROAR and New Student Convocation.
Favorite Memory: Another category where the responses were so diverse that there was no clear winner, but check out the amazing responses left by our students and alumni.
Favorite Thing About Pacific: The life-long relationships that come from your time here.
We would like to thank all of the faculty and staff members who helped make these memories possible for our students and alumni, especially Sia Mohzengaden and the staff of Bon Appetit, as well as Toby Rose and his Grounds crew. Thank you to everyone for making Pacific such a memorable experience for our students and alumni, and stay tuned for next year's Pacific Top Ten!
