Tigers Set For Action At The NCAA Golf Regionals

Pacific, lead by 2013 Big West Champion Eric Sugimoto, heads to the Great Northwest to take part in the Pullman Regional of the NCAA Tournament in PUllman, Wash. The Tigers will compete against 13 other teams for a spot in the NCAA Championship tournament in Atlanta, Georgia at the end of May where the top 30 teams in the nation will battle it out for the 2013 national title. Pacific earned its bid to the NCAA Regionals with a victory at the 2013 Big West Championships where the Tigers defeated Cal State Fullerton in a playoff on the final day to take the conference's automatic bid. 

The Tigers, along with the rest of the field in Pullman, will take on the Palouse Ridge Golf Course, the home course of the host Washington State Cougars. The course is a par 72, 7,308 yard open style course that will be a challenge for the teams selected to the Pullman Regional. In Pacific's regional the Tigers will face the likes of: 1. California, 2. TCU, 3. Southern California, 4. St. Mary's, 5. Virginia Tech, 6. BYU, 7. North Texas, 8. Baylor,  9. San Diego State, 10. Ball State, 11. Memphis, 13. Princeton, 14. Saint Francis (Pa.).

Looking for a place in the NCAA Championships, the Tigers will send the same team that took home the Big West Championship two weeks ago as senior Alex Edfort leads sophomores Eric Sugimoto, Byron Meth, and Drew Bender, along with freshman SeungJae Maeng into the fray in Washington. Pacific will be among the last to tee off on Thursday morning as the Tigers head off of the 10th tee beginning at 9:15 am. Bender will head off first for Pacific alongside of players from Ball State and Memphis.
