University of the Pacific Completes Sale of 2155 Webster Street Campus in San FranciscoBuilding sale a milestone in plans to create new downtown campus
University of the Pacific has completed the sale of its 2155 Webster St. campus, the current home of the highly regarded Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, which is slated to move to the University's new San Francisco campus at 155 5th St. in July 2014.
The sale of the Webster Street building, which also includes an adjacent 17,000-square-foot parking lot, will provide important financing to support the construction of the new campus in the city's South of Market district. The approximate 400,000-square-foot campus currently under construction at 155 5th St. will house the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and provide additional space for other University programs and events.
Trumark Urban, a Bay Area residential condominium developer, purchased the building. University of the Pacific worked with Newmark Knight Frank Cornish & Carey Commercial on the real estate transaction.
The dental school has been located in the 220,000-square foot Webster Street campus since 1967. The building contains numerous dental clinics that serve the public, classrooms and learning spaces, student support areas, research labs, administrative offices, and other spaces. All dental clinics and educational programs will continue to operate at the Webster Street location through early June 2014, so no impact on student programs or public dental services is expected until the transition. After the completion of the renovations of the building at 155 5th Street in late February 2014, the dental school will begin the relocation of administrative functions to the new campus. The University is scheduled to completely vacate the Webster Street building no later than July 31, 2014.
