Rick Nemetz ’62 was given the 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award at the School of Engineering and Computer Science Senior Banquet in April.
University of the Pacific Honors Distinguished School of Engineering and Computer Science Alumnus
A 1962 University of the Pacific graduate who has distinguished himself as a successful engineer and community leader was named the 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient at the School of Engineering and Computer Science Senior Banquet.
Rick Nemetz '62 was given the most prestigious award given by the School of Engineering and Computer Science, at the April event. The award is given to celebrate accomplishments of alumni that significantly benefit both society and Pacific.
Nemetz thanked his family for their support and provided encouraging words to the seniors at the banquet. Nemetz told the students to "work hard and don't take your degree for granted. You have one of the best educations you can receive from one of the best schools."
Nemetz has been a great benefactor of the School of Engineering and Computer Science over the years, and has set an example as a Pacific scholar athlete, successful engineer and a community leader. Through his generosity and leadership, Nemetz has helped numerous students attend Pacific and receive a quality education. Nemetz has been an especially avid supporter of female engineers by establishing the Laurie Ann Pecoraro-Nemetz Endowed Scholarship in memory of his wife who was also an engineer and providing continuous support for the Society of Women Engineers.
He participated in Pacific football and Rho Lambda Phi. Nemetz received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and went on to establish, R.A. Nemetz Construction, and has worked in the engineering industry for more than 40 years. As an alumnus, he has been an active member of the Engineering Dean's Council and Engineering Campaign Committee.
Nemetz lives on his ranch in Superior, Montona, and continues to serve as a source of inspiration for many.
