Pacific Women's Basketball Heads East For New York Road Trip

University of the Pacific women's basketball team takes its high-scoring offense to the East Coast for games at Iona College and Fordham University this weekend.

The Tigers (2-0) face Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y. on Friday, at 4 p.m. PT, and Fordham on Sunday, at 11 a.m. PT in the Bronx.

Pacific is averaging 90.5 points per game through its first two games this season, a 95-65 season-opening win over Cal State Stanislaus, and an 86-78 win over former Big West rival UC Davis on Monday.

The Tigers have put four in double-figure scoring in each game, and have five players averaging double-digit points on the year, their entire starting lineup.  In the season opener, 13 of 14 Tigers in uniform scored in the 30-point win, while four Tigers scored between 14 and 17 points against Davis.

Erin Butler led the way against the Aggies, hitting five three-pointers for a team-high 17 points. KiKi Moore and Madison Parrish each added 15, while Sam Pettinger turned in a career-high 14 points.

Pacific has lit it up from behind the three-point arc this season, connecting on 20-of-39 attempts for a .513 percentage. Butler has led the three-point barrage. hitting 9-of-14 to start the season.

Iona is off to a 1-2 start after falling Tuesday to St. John's. The Tigers will meet the Gaels for the fourth all-time meeting between the schools. Pacific owns a pair of home wins, in 2003 and 2008, while Iona won in New Rochelle in the last meeting, in 2009.

Pacific is 1-0 all-time against Fordham, posting a 62-40 win over the Rams last season at the Spanos Center. The Tigers last trip to the East Coast came in 2011-12, when Pacific opened the season at Fairfield and at No. 4 UConn.
