Pacific’s School of Dentistry offers dental exams, oral health screenings to vets
University of the Pacific's Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry will offer free dental checkups and oral health screenings for San Francisco Bay Area veterans as part of California Veterans Appreciation Week.
The screenings will take place at the school's San Francisco campus on 10 a.m. to noon and 2-4 p.m. each day on Thursday, Nov. 14 and Friday, Nov. 15.
Screenings will include a one-on-one dental exam to check teeth and gums, an opportunity to have oral health questions answered, and a free toothbrush and toothpaste. Screenings are scheduled on a first-booked, first-served basis by calling 415.929.6503.
Veterans Appreciation Week is celebrated in California during the second week of November each year. It brings together communities, businesses, government, health organizations, and other groups to show support for veterans and families of veterans. The dental school's free screening program is one of many such appreciation events taking place in November throughout the state.
Dugoni School of Dentistry's vision is to lead the improvement of health by advancing oral health. By offering free screenings, the school hopes to help veterans prioritize their dental health and understand the role good oral health plays in their overall wellness.
