Schulz Earns Capital One Academic All-District Honors

Nov 7, 2013

Excelling on both the court and in the classroom, sophomore Kat Schulz was named to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team on Thursday, Nov. 7, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. With her selection to the all-district team she is now eligible for consideration for the Academic All-America® Team.

The Tigers' top offensive threat in her second-year as an opposite, Schulz has started all 23 matches for Pacific in 2013 and leads the team 238 kills (2.83 kills per set). As good as the Phoenix, Ariz. native has been on the court she has proven to be even better in the classroom as she has posted a perfect 4.0 GPA as a sports medicine major.

Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs since 2011. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have achieved sophomore academic eligibility.

With her selection to the Academic All-District® Team, Schulz has an opportunity to become the first Tiger to earn Academic All-America honors since Kara Gormsen earned the award in 2000.
