Three Tigers Post Event Wins On Day One of Swimming's UCSD Arena Invite

Three University of the Pacific Tigers posted event victories as the women's team sits third and the men's team fourth through Thursday's action at the 2013 Arena Invitational hosted by UC San Diego.

Freshman Margaux Verger Gourson won the 500-yard Freestyle, while sophomore Cristina Mardones and senior Oliver Simkovic each won the 200-yard Individual Medley.

The Tigers also were the runner-up in the men's 400-Yard Medley Relay, as freshman Curtis Klein, junior Cameran Franke, senior Dai Wilson, and junior Cooper Rogers turned in a time of 3:20.12.

Pacific placed fourth in the men's 200-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:22.78 by senior Matt Stuhr, Wilson, Rogers and senior Jason Carnes.

In the women's 200-Yard Freestyle Relay, junior Annie Sumioka, Verger Gourson, sophomore Haley Preston, and junior M.E. Randall posted a time of 1:34.63 to place sixth.

Randall also finished seventh in the final of the women's 50-Yard Freestyle.

Stuhr posted an eighth place finish in the men's 50-Yard freestyle final, while Wilson placed 10th and Carnes 15th.

Junior Brandon Chandler placed eighth in the final of the men's 500-Yard Freestyle, while freshman Kale Ai finished 13th.
