Alameh, Verbeek Upset No. 1 Seeded Auburn Pair At ITA All-American Championships

Pacific's top doubles pair of Daniel Alameh and Sem Verbeek upset the No. 30 nationally ranked team of Dan Cochrane and Dennis Lengsfeld from Auburn at the ITA Men's All-American Championships on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Cochrane and Lengsfeld were the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

Alameh and Verbeek came away with an 8-6 victory, to advance to the third round against Virginia Tech's Hunter Koontz and Joao Monteiro on Wednesday. Verbeek also defeated Jarryd Chaplin of Tennessee 6-1, 6-1 in his final Consolation Round match.

"I am so proud if the Tigers," said Head Coach Ryan Redondo. "Going against the No. 1 seeds in a national tournament in qualifications is very tough and Sem and Daniel played with discipline and determination. Thos were the key factors in letting their own games shine. Sem also went out and defeated Jarryd Chaplin of the University of Tennessee.  After a long match yesterday, I was thrilled to see his composure."
