Cross Country Heads to Crystal Springs and UNR Twilight Classic

Sep 5, 2013

The Pacific Cross Country team will participate in two races on Saturday, Sept. 7, with separate squads going to the Crystal Springs Course in Belmont, Calif., and the University of Nevada Twilight Classic in Sparks, Nev.

Pacific is coming off a fifth place finish in the USF Invite in which every participating runner improved their time from a year ago. Becky Grabow (Carson City, Nev.) and Megan Hall (Rocklin, Calif.) paced the Tigers at Golden Gate Park and will hope to continue their strong starts as they head to the Reno area as part of a squad that will race under the lights on a unique 4K loop course at altitude.

This is the first time that the Tigers have competed in the annual event, which is held at Shadow Mountain Park. Squads from Nevada and UNLV are also scheduled to participate in the race beginning at 8:45pm.

A separate group of Pacific runners will head to the Crystal Springs Invitational, hosted by San Francisco State, to race on a 6K course. That race will begin at 8:45am and will feature a mix of Division I, Division II and NAIA squads.

Following this weekend's action, The Tigers will return to the course on September 14th as Pacific's runners' head to the WCC Preview Meet in Malibu, Calif. and the Hornet Jamboree in Sacramento.
