New Tool Helps Find Funding for Research

Sep 13, 2013

The Office of Sponsored Programs is pleased to announce to Pacific faculty that the University has subscribed to a new tool for discovering funding opportunities and supporting collaboration in the research development field.

Pivot, a system of Community of Science (COS), compiles pre-populated researcher profiles and matches them to current funding opportunities in the expansive COS database.  Users can search for a funding opportunity and view faculty from inside or outside Pacific with similar interests.

Because Pacific just subscribed to this service, all faculty members should be added into the system within the next 60 days. Users can go to http://Pivot.COS.com.  Setting up an account only requires the user to have a pacific.edu e-mail address. Users can log in with a Pivot username and password anytime, anywhere.  Logging in this way will take the user to his or her Pivot homepage. From their homepage, users can manage active or tracked funding opportunities, saved searches, shared opportunities, etc., and start searching for funding or scholars.

Instructions for using Pivot can be found on our Sponsored Programs website External Funding Sources.   In addition, training sessions will be offered this fall on use of the product.  Please contact Leah Vargas, 209.946.3903 or lvargas@pacific.edu, with any questions you may have.
