Quakers top Tigers 7-0

Sep 22, 2013

Pacific will be coming back to California with a 2-2 trip behind them, after falling 7-0 to the Penn Quakers at Ellen Vagelos Field. Pacific falls to 2-6 on the season following the loss. Penn improves to 4-1 with the victory.

Penn got on the board just over four minutes into the game as Alex Iqbal found Emily Corcoran with a pass and Corcoran beat sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Corder for a 1-0 Quaker lead.

Corcoran would score again at the 13:37 mark to widen the margin in favor of Penn to 2-0. Following the goal, Pacific called time out in hopes of regrouping.

Redshirt sophomore Molly Macierz relieved Corder in goal and after a wide shot by senior Katelyn Tatar, Pacific was awarded a penalty corner. However, senior Emily Tregoning's shot following the corner was also wide.

Penn would score two more times, with Elise Tilton besting Macierz twice for scores. Penn held a 4-0 lead at the 19:30 mark.

Pacific would again be awarded a penalty corner at the 24:05 mark, but Tregoning's shot attempt was blocked.

Elizabeth Hitti added another goal before halftime for the Quakers, who took a 5-0 advantage into the break. Penn would add two goals in the second half on penalty strokes by Julie Tahan and Jasmine Cole to win 7-0.

Tregoning and senior Maggie Grindatti led the Tigers with three shots and one shot on goal each.

Pacific will return to California and open up the NorPac conference portion of their schedule Sept.27 against California at Maxwell Family Field in Berkeley. The night game will start at 7pm Pacific time.
