SF State Invitational Awaits Tigers Friday
The Pacific Cross Country team will head back to the San Francisco Bay Area for a Friday meet hosted by San Francisco State. The SF State Invitational will kick off at 3:30 p.m. at Golden Gate Park's Speedway Meadow.
The 6K course is the same course used for the 2009 Division II West Regionals. The course features rolling terrain along grass fields and challenging dirt trails.
Pacific will be one of 15 women's teams competing in the race, and will join Santa Clara and San Jose State as one of the three Division I squads taking to the course on Friday afternoon.
Coach Josh Jones will send senior Cassi Rush, sophomores Dale Dong, Jessica Guerra, Ashley Keeline, Mia Knipper, Grace McManus, Lauren Nakaso, Karla Segura and junior Micaela Todd to the event as well as freshmen Megan Hall and Myra Ladkawala.
Pacific will look to improve from a 12th place finish at the West Regional Preview event last weekend in Sacramento. Pacific sent six runners to the Inter-Region Jamboree at the Haggin Oaks Golf Course. Sophomore Lindsay Wourms paced the Tigers with a time of 18:36 in the last 5K of the year for the Orange and Black.
Following the race Friday, Pacific will have one final tuneup before the WCC conference race in Malibu, Calif on November 2nd, the October 19th Bronco Invite in Sunnyvale, Calif.
This will be the first time that Pacific has competed in the SF State event since the 2009 season.
