Upcoming Community Engagement Opportunities

Sep 18, 2013

Pacific's Community Outreach Committee continues to grow and would like to extend an invitation to all Pacific Faculty, and staff to serve on the committee for the 2013-14 academic year!

The Community Outreach Committee's mission is to organize, motivate, and mobilize Pacific members from all three campuses to participate in serving our community on a local, national, and global scale in support of the University's Beyond Our Gates community engagement initiatives. This is accomplished through planned annual events, ongoing services, being a resource liaison to related campus and community groups, and responding to extraordinary and /or critical needs. For more information on participation, please contact Kaye Mooney, co-chair at kmooney@pacific.edu or Wade Russu, co-chair at wrussu@pacific.edu.

Here are some upcoming opportunities for service:

University of the Pacific Policy Statement on Volunteer Community Service

Effective January 1, 2012, Pacific's Policy regarding Volunteer Service supports activities that enhance and serve the communities in which we live and work and, within strict limits, provides Pacific employees leave with pay in order to share in the effort. The policy provides eligible staff with paid time off (the equivalent of two regularly scheduled workdays to a maximum of sixteen (16) hours per calendar year) to volunteer for approved community services activities.

Pacific staff and faculty are encouraged to review Pacific Policy on Volunteer Community Service and complete and submit the Volunteer Community Service Request Form which can be accessed on Pacific's Human Resources website.
