Ryan Griffith appointed Director of International Programs and Services
Ryan Griffith, executive director for international education at Upper Iowa University (UIU), has been appointed director of International Programs and Services, Pacific's senior international officer. He will begin the new position on Sept. 10, 2014. As director, he will oversee the recruitment of international students and support their academic and social integration at Pacific; promote education abroad programs; manage and lead IPS administrative operations; and oversee English as a Second Language programs.
In his current position at UIU, Griffith oversees international enrollments, finances, study abroad, remote satellite campuses outside of the United States (Hong Kong and Malaysia), and intensive English language programming. He also served as the interim vice president for the Center of International Education at UIU.
Prior to UIU, Griffith was director of the English Language Institute and coordinator of the Global Leadership Initiative at University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where he also taught courses in Asian Studies, International Relations Theory, and English as a Second Language. He also taught English language courses and developed programs for English education in Japan for many years during which he learned Japanese. Griffith earned a B.A. in International Relations from University of Southern California and an M.A. in International Relations and Asian Politics from University of Queensland, Australia.
His wife, Yoko, is from Kobe, Japan; they have two boys, Rei (10) and Noah (8).
