Update on dirt haul from Stagg Memorial Stadium and roadwork beginning Monday, June 30

Dirt Haul
Contractors began the process of hauling away excess dirt from the Stagg Memorial Stadium Friday, June 27. Trucks leaving campus are traveling south on Pershing Avenue to I-5. Facilities personnel do not anticipate a significant impact on campus traffic, but staff and faculty who normally enter or exit campus from Larry Heller Drive can avoid potential delays by using the Mendocino Avenue or Pacific Avenue entrances/exits instead.

The north and west sides of Parking Lot 1 will be closed to parking, but the remainder of the lot will remain open. Nearby parking is available in lots 2, 3 and 4 as well. 

Road Work
Physical Plant will begin road work on June 30 that will impact traffic and parking along the Chapel Lane, Atchley Way, and Presidents Drive, including Fraternity and Sorority Circles.

  • Presidents Drive from Fraternity Circle to Pacific Avenue, including Sorority Circle, will be closed to traffic and pedestrian use for repaving from June 30 until July 8. The campus exit from Presidents Drive to Pacific Avenue will be closed during this time. 
  • The sidewalks at the northeast corner of the intersection of Chapel Way and Atchley Way nearest Grace Covell Hall will be replaced and the ADA parking there will be modified to comply to code. The project will include a new crosswalk from the corner near Grace Covell to the corner near Hand Hall. Traffic at this intersection will be reduced to one lane at times during construction with flag persons directing traffic. This work will occur July 1 to July 8.
