Reminder: Mandatory University Training Requirement-preventing sexual harassment and eliminating sexual violence

2014 is a mandatory University-wide training year on preventing workplace harassment for all University employees.
Sep 3, 2014

University of the Pacific is committed to maintaining campus communities free from sexual and other unlawful harassment.  We all share in the responsibility of building and maintaining positive and productive working relationships in an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. This memo contains information about University- and State-mandated training on sexual harassment prevention and sexual violence elimination. It applies to all employees of the University.

2014 is a mandatory University-wide training year on preventing workplace harassment for all University employees.  The deadline for completing this training requirement is December 31, 2014.  If you have not completed the training thus far in 2014, you must complete the training this calendar year.  The training will satisfy the University's training requirement as well as California law AB1825 mandating sexual harassment prevention training for supervisors.

Choose from one of these  two options:

1)  You can register for an interactive, theatrical training presented by Life Theatre Services . The Emmy Award-winning Life Theatre Services uses professional actors to dramatize real life scenarios that illustrate both overt and subtle forms of sexual harassment. Sign up early, as seating is limited.

The following interactive theatrical presentations are scheduled:

    • Stockton campus: Monday, October 6: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the DeRosa University Center, Ballroom B.  Please bring your Pacific ID and arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time to sign in.

Follow these steps to register for either workshop at San Francisco or Stockton campuses:

      • Go to http://go.Pacific.edu/myLearning
      • Enter Pacific Net ID and Password
      • Click on Schedule, under My Menu (left side of screen)
      • Select month of October, then click GO
      • Select October 6, select a workshop time, click and register
    • Sacramento campus on Wednesday, Oct. 1: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Lecture Hall - Contact Sacramento Human Resources to register
    • San Francisco campus - This training was offered on Friday, Sept. 5

2) You can satisfy the training requirement through the University's interactive online course on sexual and unlawful harassment prevention. In the near future, you will receive a customized registration email from Workplace Answers eLearning [training@workplaceanwers.com] that contains your unique, personal link to access your training.  The link will be your access to the web-based training, which you can complete on any computer with an internet connection.

NEW TRAINING REQUIREMENT!  In addition to the sexual harassment prevention training, you must also complete training on the SEXUAL VIOLENCE ELIMINATION ACT OF 2013.

Enacted in March 2013, the Campus SaVE Act is the most recent and far reaching in a long line of laws to help protect students from sexual violence and harassment. This training is required of all University faculty and staff and must be completed by December 31, 2014.   The University is offering an online course (different from the course above) that satisfies the SaVE training requirement. All faculty and staff must complete this course. In the near future, you will receive a customized registration email from Workplace Answers eLearning [training@workplaceanwers.com) that contains your unique, personal link to access your training.  The link will be your access to the web-based training, which you can complete on any computer with an internet connection. (Note that this means you soon will be receiving emails from Workplace Answers about separate training requirements.)
