Nearly 400 gathered at the Faye Spanos Concert Hall last week to memorialize and pay their respects to the beloved Pacifican Eddie LeBaron '50.

LeBaron, who led the Pacific football team to its only undefeated season, was a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, a war hero, a professional football star and a successful attorney. He also served in Korea for nine months during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal.

Known as "The Greatest Tiger of Them All," LeBaron died April 1 in Stockton. On April 14, a celebration of his life was held at his alma mater. A U.S. Marine honor guard was as on hand to recognize his service to the nation; just before the end of the memorial, members fired a 21-gun salute to him.

The service included remembrances by LeBaron's granddaughter, Lili LeBaron; Athletic Director Ted Leland; his friends Kerry Gordon and Joe Brown; and his sons, Bill and Wayne LeBaron.
