Pacific’s Analytics Program Announces Expansion to Sacramento

Jan 27, 2016

The University of the Pacific is pleased to announce the expansion of our Analytics Program to the Sacramento Campus.  The Analytics Program currently offers its Master of Science in Analytics at Pacific's San Francisco Campus, and looks forward to welcoming its first Sacramento cohort in Spring 2017.

The MS in Analytics will join the graduate-level programs already on the Sacramento Campus: Master in Business Administration, Doctor of Education, Master of Public Policy, Master of Physician Assistant Studies, and Master of Public Policy degrees.  The program looks forward to collaboration opportunities with the programs at the Sacramento Campus, as well as Pacific's McGeorge School of Law.   The MS in Analytics program, already unique in the San Francisco/Bay Area for its pedagogy and modality of delivery, will be the first of its kind in the Sacramento region.  The program, which is spread over two academic years, focuses on developing students' skills in statistics and programming, as well as the inputs and applications of analytics.  The program culminates in a semester-long Capstone Project in which students work on a project sponsored by a corporate partner to bring together all that they have learned.

Why Sacramento?   The Analytics Program welcomed its first cohort of students at the San Francisco Campus in Fall 2015.  In addition, the program launched a speaker series to engage members of the data science community in San Francisco with the program and Pacific.   Sacramento, like San Francisco, is a natural fit for the Analytics Program.  The capital of California, Sacramento, is home to a variety of departments in all levels of government, and which involve a variety of sectors.  The region is also home to a number of medical centers making partnership in healthcare analytics an exciting possibility.   Because analytics has applications in a wide variety of sectors, Sacramento's location and importance in the areas of business, government, agriculture, healthcare, and sports makes the city especially well suited to host this program.   Students in the Analytics Program will join students in other programs at the Sacramento Campus at the McGeorge Campus in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento.
