Personnel Updates - New Assistant Provost for Admission and University Registrar

Office of the ProvostJan 20, 2016

Following a nationwide search, Provost Pallavicini is pleased to announce the appointment of Hung Dang as Pacific's new Assistant Provost for Admission and University Registrar, effective February 16, 2016.

This new position was created to reengineer workflows among the Office of Admission and the Office of the Registrar by cross-training staff, streamlining processes, and leveraging technology to optimize self-service and customer service to students across our three campuses. Dang will report to J. Michael Thompson, Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, and have primary responsibility for creating and implementing a best-of-class admission and registrar operation that aligns with the University's Strategic Plan, Pacific 2020; Academic Plan, Crossing Boundaries; and the forthcoming Strategic Enrollment Plan.

Dang brings to Pacific over 25 years of experience in enrollment management, most recently serving at California State University Channel Islands. As Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, he oversaw Admission, Financial Aid, Registrar, and the Undergraduate Advising Center. Through streamlined admissions operations, Dang realized a 23% increase in enrollment over the course of two admission cycles.

Prior to CSU Channel Islands, Dang spent the majority of his career at University of Washington Bothell, a comprehensive liberal arts institution that serves approximately 5,500 traditional and non-traditional students from 24 states and 34 countries. There he served as Associate Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs and Registrar. Under Dang's leadership, UW Bothell experienced aggressive growth while steadily improving its student academic profile: its population tripled and the enrollment of underrepresented students increased by 38%.

Dang earned a Master of Arts in Leadership & Organization from Gonzaga University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of Washington. Dang holds memberships and has served in leadership roles in enrollment management related professional associations.  He also was awarded a Fulbright in 2012 for U.S.-Japan International Education Administrators.

The Provost would like to thank the members of the search committee, chaired by Lynn Fox, Associate Dean and Director of Financial Aid, for their service during the past several months, as well as members of the University community who participated in candidate forums and provided the committee with valuable feedback during the selection process.
