Academic Plan Update: Health Initiative and Interdisciplinarity Conversations Continue

Office of the ProvostMar 7, 2016

As reported previously (here and here), much work is being done to support and implement the goals of the Academic Plan. Several conversations are being held during March and April on the topics of health and interdisciplinarity.

Health Initiative
The Provost is hosting an ongoing series of conversations to discuss how Pacific can best become an educational leader in the rapidly evolving health care environment. Recently, an interdisciplinary group of faculty and administrative members produced reports on this topic and discussed the strengths, gaps, trends and possible directions for Pacific's health initiative.

You are invited to participate in one of the following conversations facilitated by Dr. Rory Hume, former provost and vice president for academic and health affairs of the University of California system and now a senior consultant for the Atlanta-based Academy for Academic Leadership.

Interdisciplinarity
The Provost is continuing her series of conversations on fostering interdisciplinarity in teaching and scholarship. The next conversations are on the Sacramento and San Francisco campuses on March 30 and April 7, respectively.

The goals of these conversations are to understand the barriers to interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship and to begin to prioritize solutions leading to an environment that crosses boundaries. The Provost invites you to join the conversation and share your ideas, challenges and opportunities for supporting interdisciplinarity in teaching and scholarship.

Wednesday, March 30, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. (following the Strategic Enrollment Plan conversation)
