Faculty Affairs Update

Office of the ProvostMar 23, 2016

Greetings Colleagues,

Here are some faculty development events and other opportunities I'd like to share with you:

Fulbright Information Sessions Begin this Week
The Provost's Office and the School of International Studies are hosting several information sessions for faculty and students to learn more about the Fulbright Scholar and US Student Program, which offers opportunities in virtually all academic disciplines and in a wide variety of countries across six continents.

The first two sessions are tomorrow, Thursday, March 24, in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). The first, 12 - 1 p.m., features Fulbright Ambassador Daris Hale, a professor in the School of Music at Texas State University. The second, 5:30 - 7 p.m., will feature a panel of Fulbright faculty alumni who will share their thoughts, insights and experiences. To learn more about these faculty sessions, please contact Dr. Bill Herrin, Director of the School of International Studies (SIS) and University Fulbright Scholar Program Representative, at wherrin@pacific.edu

The two US Student Fulbright sessions are on Tuesday, March 29, in the Bechtel Center. The first session, at 4 p.m., is for faculty who may mentor applicants, or may participate in the Campus Screening Committee to interview applicants. Two Fulbright Alumni Ambassadors will present the program and answer questions. The second session, at 5 p.m., will provide information for students interested in applying. The Fulbright Alumni Ambassadors will present the program from the student point of view, and answer questions. Students and faculty mentors are welcome at both sessions. To learn more, please contact Dr. Susan Weiner, Pacific's Fellowship Advisor, at sweiner@pacific.edu.

Please contact Chris Goff (cgoff@pacific.edu) or me (bgundersen@pacific.edu) to learn more.
