Search and Personnel Updates - March 7, 2016

Office of the ProvostMar 7, 2016

Dean, Conservatory of Music

  • Provost Pallavicini has asked Dan Ebbers to extend his term as Interim Dean for one year. He has agreed, and the Provost appreciates his continued service in this role. The Provost would like to thank the University community, the Conservatory of Music faculty, staff and students, and the search committee for their participation in this search, which we will resume in the next few months.

Dean, Benerd School of Education

  • The search committee has met and selected a list of candidates for campus visits. Information coming soon on the candidates and a schedule of campus visits. This search committee is chaired by Dean Howell.

Dean, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry

  • A pool of candidates is being formed. This search committee is chaired by Dean Oppenheimer.

Director, Center for Teaching and Learning

  • The Provost is initiating a nationwide search for a new CTL director following the announcement of Terri Johnson's resignation. Search firms are being reviewed to conduct this search. A search committee is being formed and the chair will be announced soon.

Assistant Vice Provost of Admission and University Registrar

  • Hung Dang, recently appointed as Pacific's Assistant Provost for Admission and University Registrar, has resigned from the University for personal reasons. This departure highlights that, while combined roles have their benefits, they also have the associated risk of a significant leadership vacuum when that person leaves. In recognition of this potential risk, we will again separate these critical positions and initiate searches for an Assistant Vice Provost of Admission, within the next 60 days, and for a University Registrar, in the fall. An experienced Interim Registrar will be brought in to provide oversight and leadership for the Office of the Registrar until a search can be completed next academic year, and we hope to appoint a new leader for Admission in the fall.
