Glen RogersGlen Rogers appointed director of academic assessment
Cyd Jenefsky, vice provost for strategy and educational effectiveness, is pleased to announce that Dr. Glen Rogers is Pacific's new director of academic assessment effective Nov. 10. Rogers joined Pacific from Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he served as the director of educational research and evaluation. He holds a PhD and an MA in social psychology from the University of Kentucky and a BA in psychology from the University of Texas, Austin. For more than 30 years, Rogers has studied and evaluated Alverno's ability-based curriculum, which has been nationally recognized for decades as an exemplar of using assessment to enhance learning. During the month of November, Rogers will begin meeting with Pacific's assessment chairs to learn about their programs and their approaches to assessment of student learning. Vice Provost Jenefsky would like to thank the search committee, led by Justin Low, associate professor in the Gladys L. Benerd School of Education and a faculty fellow in assessment and accreditation, for their hard work during the search process.   

Stephanie Chan is a new admissions coordinator for Sacramento Campus student services.

Mario Gravina has transferred to the position of videographer and client assistant in the Institute for Administrative Justice in the McGeorge School of Law.

Elizabeth Hernandez is the new receptionist in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry in the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.

Maureen Laird is a new records coordinator II in the Office of Admission.

Angelica Maldonado Nava is a new legal advocate in the Institute for Administrative Justice in the McGeorge School of Law.

Jesus Ramirez and Jessica Silva are new assistant directors and regional representatives for southern California in the Office of Admission.

Lynette Zenor was promoted to student services coordinator in the Eberhardt School of Business.

Karita Zimmerman is a new coordinator in dental administration in the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.  

Office of the President

Erika GreetErika Greet joined the Office of the President and the Alumni Relations team on Oct. 19 in a shared role as the Commencement and university events specialist. In addition to having responsibilities for university commencement exercises, she will help manage and execute events that support specifically identified Development and Alumni Relations department goals and initiatives under the guidance of Kelli Page. Greet has been with Pacific for more than a year, successfully planning and executing academic division events for the Office of the Provost.

Vanessa Zuniga is a new administrative assistant II in Enterprise Risk Management.  

Development and Alumni Relations

Johanna BakmasJohanna Bakmas '09 has been appointed associate director for development and alumni relations communications effective Nov. 9. She will report to Scott Rivinius, assistant vice president for advancement operations, with a dotted line to Marge Grey, associate vice president for marketing and communications. Bakmas earned her bachelor's degree in history from Pacific, studied music in the Conservatory and was a dedicated member of the Pacific Pep Band. After graduation she worked at the Haggin Museum in Stockton for nearly two years before moving to Washington, D.C., to pursue a master's degree in museum studies at George Washington University. While in D.C., she worked at the Smithsonian Institution where she assisted with social media, prospect identification and stewardship events. Most recently, Bakmas has served as marketing coordinator for College of the Pacific, where she completed a website overhaul and helped create an enrollment marketing plan.  

Carrie Fox-Buttram '00 is the new alumni relations operations manager as of Oct. 1. She will oversee the Vereschagin Alumni House and manage alumni events that take place in the Alumni House. As a student, Fox-Buttram was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and was active in ASuop.  Her degree in communications and studio art has benefited her previous work as a guidance counselor, admissions representative and merchandising manager. For the last 11 years she has been in the event planning and interior design business. 

Jennifer Laam '94 was appointed director of Advancement Services effective Oct. 13. Laam earned her undergraduate degree in history from Pacific and holds a master's degree in history from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She previously served as a development analyst at Pacific (2000-13) and went on to serve more than two years in an advanced role at U.C. Davis, where she was the first researcher to have the majority of her time allocated to proactive prospect identification. 

Student Life

The department of Multicultural Affairs has been renamed Intercultural Student Success. The change comes as part of a process of reimagining the work of this department as it seeks to promote intercultural dialogue, conflict management and identity development for Pacific students, staff and faculty.  

Pacific Athletics

James Alford is the new video specialist for men's basketball.
