The University of the Pacific Board of Regents met last week for its October meeting, where it received the following enrollment update and took action on one Academic Division item:

Enrollment Update
J. Michael Thompson, Associate Vice President and Vice Provost for Enrollment, presented to the Board an update on Pacific's Fall 2016 enrollment. Click here to see the PowerPoint presentation (PacificNet login required). As of last week, Fall 2017 applications are at 95% of Fall 2015 applications on the same date and 170% of Fall 2016 applications on the same date. Attendance at this year's first Preview Day was the second-highest in the past four years.

Board Approval of Enrollment Management SIF Proposal
The Board of Regents approved a Strategic Investment Fund (SIF) request supporting the implementation of Pacific's Strategic Enrollment Plan (SEP); specifically, the three strategies of Broaden Diversity, Invigorate Undergraduate Enrollment, and Build Institutional Capacity in Admission, Financial Aid, and Marketing. This SIF distribution reflects an allocation of $1,578,229 in base funds staged over two years and $816,000 in one-time funds staged over three years (for reengineering Banner processes and expanded outreach to prospective students). The ultimate measures of the SEP's success are reaching enrollment growth targets and sustaining enrollment at Pacific. Planning for the implementation of personnel, technology, and communications enhancements and improvements is underway; additional updates to follow.
