An integral element of the University's Strategic Enrollment Plan was established in May with the signing of a partnership agreement with Shorelight Education. Pacific and Shorelight will jointly design programs to recruit international students from around the world, prepare them for high levels of academic success, and facilitate a quick and comfortable adjustment to life at Pacific. Preparation is well underway to welcome the first cohort of undergraduate international students to the International Accelerator and Intensive English programs in January 2017. A graduate student accelerator is planned for Sacramento in fall 2017.

Progress to Date
Over the summer, three operational subcommittees from Pacific teamed with counterparts from Shorelight Education to plan the details of this implementation:  Marketing and Enrollment, co-chaired by Marge Grey, Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications, Student Services, Operations and Infrastructure, co-chaired Graeme Mitchell, Associate Vice President for Facilities, and Academic and Quality Assurance, co-chaired by Suzanne Walchli, Interim Academic Chair. The efforts of these subcommittees are overseen by a Steering Committee co-chaired by J. Michael Thompson, Associate Vice President and Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and joined by Ron Ellison, Associate Vice President for Business and Finance, and Jared Gaynor, Chief of Staff to the Provost.  Each of the committees has a matching membership from Shorelight Education. For more information on the charge and membership of these committees, click here.

Marketing materials have been created and will be available very shortly.  The newly published UOP International Guidebook can be accessed at the Shorelight SharePoint site. On September 19, nearly fifty members of Shorelight's recruiting team from all over the world (Southeast Asia, Middle East/North Africa, Africa, Latin America, and more) visited Pacific to familiarize themselves with our campus and all we have to offer their prospective student clients. A curriculum plan has been created for the undergraduate accelerator, and the next steps will be to identify Pacific faculty who wish to take on particular courses and sections.  Plans for January international student orientation, housing accommodations, advising, and other essential student services continue as well.

Finally, Shorelight is in the midst of hiring their academic operations team and establishing permanent office space on the Stockton campus.
